Nutrition
What we eat and drink is vital to our existence and health. It has a huge impact on our mental,
emotional and physical health.
In Eastern cultures, your food is your medicine. Chinese medicine practitioners have been using food
and herbs for centuries to nourish and balance the body. This system is based on Chinese Medicine
diagnosis. Western nutrition looks at the body from a western scientific perspective. Food provides our
bodies with energy, proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals to live and function properly.
At Natura Acupuncture Clinic we use a combination of Eastern and Western nutrition.
Both systems of nutrition maintain:
1.
Eating high quality oils, fats and proteins
2.
Minimizing or avoiding wheat, gluten and dairy products
3.
Avoiding refined sugar, excess fructose, soda drinks
4.
Restricting caffeine with a preference for herbal teas
Chinese Medicine looks to help individuals find healthy foods that suit their bodies constitutional
needs.
In Western nutrition, the leaders in the field of modern biochemical nutrition cite reduced nutrients in
our food as well increased environmental stressors which require extra nutrients to help support and
maintain optimal health and prevent disease.
In combination with healthy lifestyle habits such as exercise, diet and supplements (if needed), food
can play a fundamental role in preventing disease and improving our health.
Nutrition (as with all health treatment) may be associated with possible adverse reactions in individual
cases. Some patients occasionally experience detoxification symptoms.
